Do you listen to the number one morning news channel in Richmond when you want to know what is going on locally and nationally? Channel 12 Richmond VA has been on the air since 1948, and continues to serve the community. The station is both on air and online, and offers updates on the local news, weather, health and more. Here are three things we have checked out on the Channel 12 News Richmond website this week.

1. Health News…More Cases of Lyme Disease

The Center for Disease Control has just announced that about 300,000 people throughout the country have contracted Lyme Disease, marking a large spike in reported cases. The disease is spread by ticks, and you can attempt to prevent catching it by wearing long clothing in wooded or grassy areas, as well as bug spray. Lyme Disease can cause fevers, and when it goes on longer, joint, nerve and heart problems.

2. 12 About Town

Channel 12 has a useful online tab that describes fun things you can do in and around the city. For example, there is an event calendar you can view, which indicates that the VCU Broad Street Mile, Disney on Ice, and Butterflies Live are all upcoming. They also profile important local happenings, such as the Hip Hop workshop that helps to empower Richmond youth.

3. Will it be Sunny or Rainy?

Whether you are planning a picnic or a staycation, you will want to know what the weather is going to be like for the week. Channel 12 Richmond Weather is the solution for figuring this out. They show everything from the current weather to a seven day forecast, as well as an interactive radar screen and a note of sunset and sunrise times. Want a constant update? Channel 12 Richmond Weather can send you an email with the daily weather forecast.
